Student Service Hours for Dog Fostering
Club Canines is a program initiative by Mission Mutt that transforms students into advocates for at-risk animals. Our program focuses on getting students "unplugged" and back into the community, teaching essential life skills like empathy, responsibility, and the fundamentals of animal welfare. By opening your home to a foster dog, you aren't just saving a life—you’re learning the value of respect for all living things. To recognize this 24/7 commitment, Mission Mutt provides verified community service hours for high school graduation and scholarship requirements (including Bright Futures).
Understanding the "why" behind rescue and how to speak up for at-risk animals.
Developing the skills to manage a living creature's well-being and representing Mission Mutt in the community.
Students can receive 14 service hours a week. Additional hours provided for volunteering.
Fosters are the heartbeat of our life-saving mission. When you welcome a dog into your home, you are providing the vital stability they need to decompress and thrive. We ask that our foster families commit to their pups for the duration of their journey—keeping them safe and loved until their forever family is found.
Note* If a personal situation arises and you can no longer foster, we require a notice period of 3 to 4 weeks to secure a new placement.
Not everyone can commit to a long-term journey, but every dog needs a safe place to land in the meantime. Our Temporary Fosters are the essential safety net of Mission Mutt. By opening your home for a few days or a few weeks, you provide a vital bridge for dogs waiting for their long-term foster placement or a cozy "vacation home" while their primary foster is out of town. This is the perfect role for those who want to help save lives but need a shorter-term commitment that fits a busy schedule.
We are always looking for passionate volunteers to help us with the essential "behind-the-scenes" work that keeps our rescue running. Whether you are a creative whiz interested in designing adoption posters on Canva, a local advocate willing to help with flyer distribution, or a logistics pro who can assist with supply pickups and dog transport, your time makes a massive difference. We also have urgent needs for team members to help with event setup and organizing community donation drives. Every task, big or small, helps us move one more dog off a euthanasia list and into a loving home.
